Therapy Approach

Learn more about CBT

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns. However, therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I integrate a variety of approaches to best meet your individual needs, goals, and strengths. Whether you’re seeking practical tools, emotional healing, or deeper personal growth, I tailor sessions to support you in a way that feels authentic and empowering for you.

Below, you’ll find a brief overview of the different approaches I draw from in sessions and how each one can support your growth.

  • What ages do you work with?
I primarily work with pre-teens (11+), teens, college students, and young adults.
  • What therapy approaches do you use?
I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients manage anxiety and build effective coping tools. I also draw from a range of approaches depending on what best fits your needs, including: Art Therapy Attachment-Based Therapy Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Mindfulness-based techniques Narrative Therapy Person-Centered Therapy Play Therapy (adjusted to the client’s age) Psychodynamic Therapy Relational Therapy Solution-Focused Therapy Strength-Based Therapy You can learn more about each of these approaches — and how they might support your growth — on the Approach page.
  • Do you offer in-person or online therapy?
Yes—I offer in-person sessions in Mission Viejo, CA, as well as online sessions via Zoom. I recommend that younger clients meet in person when possible to support engagement and connection.
  • How often will I come to therapy?
In most cases, therapy is scheduled once a week at the start. Meeting weekly helps us build momentum, create a sense of consistency, and make meaningful progress toward your goals. As you grow and your needs change, we can adjust the frequency of sessions — whether that’s shifting to every other week, monthly check-ins, or returning as needed for extra support. Your therapy journey is personal, and we’ll collaborate together to find a pace that feels supportive and sustainable for you.
  • What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, supportive space. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping to get out of therapy, and any goals or concerns you’d like to share. I’ll also answer any questions you might have about the therapy process and what working together can look like. There’s no need to prepare anything ahead of time — just come as you are. It’s completely normal if you’re not sure where to start. My job is to help guide the conversation at a pace that feels right for you :)
  • What is your fee?
-Individual sessions: $175 per 45 minutes -Couples sessions: $295 per 90 minutes. If you have a PPO insurance plan with out-of-network benefits, you are eligible for reimbursement for therapy services, which can significantly lower your out-of-pocket costs. I’m happy to provide superbills for insurance submissions or submit claims on your behalf. If you’d like, I can also assist you in checking your benefits before we get started.
  • Do you take insurance?
I’m an out-of-network provider, but if you have a PPO plan with eligible benefits, I can handle submitting claims directly to your insurance for you to receive reimbursement. After meeting your deductible, you’ll usually only be responsible for your copay. Not sure about your benefits? That’s okay — we can check them together, or you can contact your insurance provider for more details. I’m here to make the process as easy as possible!
  • What is your cancellation policy?
When we schedule a session, that time is reserved just for you. Advance notice of cancellations or changes helps me stay flexible and available for all clients, including those who may need to schedule urgent appointments. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice — or missed without notice — are subject to a $75 fee. I completely understand that emergencies can happen, so I offer a one-time “free pass” for the first late cancellation or missed appointment. Thank you for helping me honor the time I set aside for you and for others who may need support.
  • How do I schedule a consultation or session?
I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation where we can talk about what you’re looking for and see if it feels like a good fit. You can schedule your consultation directly through my Contact page. If you’re not quite ready to schedule, that’s okay too! You’re welcome to reach out by call, text, email, or through the contact form on my website with any questions. I’m happy to connect and help you figure out the next step when you’re ready.
  • Do you offer faith-based or Christian counseling?
Yes—if you would like to incorporate Christian values and a faith-based perspective into therapy, I’m happy to provide that. It’s always tailored to your comfort level and preferences.
